Can I take BCAA with Cordyceps?

Understanding the interactions, benefits, and safety of combining these two powerful supplements.

BCAA
+
Cordyceps

Short answer

We found no documented interaction between BCAAs and Cordyceps in the sources below. That isn't proof the combination is right for you: check each one's cautions, and ask your pharmacist if you take medication.

BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids)

What it is: Leucine, isoleucine and valine: amino acids from protein foods that muscles can use for energy.

What the research says: There's little evidence they help endurance. With weight training they might help muscle, but it isn't clear they do more than eating enough protein.

Cautions

  • A diet with enough protein already gives 10 to 20 g a day; up to another 20 g a day from supplements seems safe.

Cordyceps

What it is: A fungus that grows on moth caterpillars, used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy and immunity.

What the research says: Some studies looked at kidney function in transplant and diabetes patients, but reviews question the quality of the evidence. Most research is in the lab.

Cautions

  • No major side effects have been reported.

Medicines to check

  • Insulin and other blood-sugar-lowering medicines: cordyceps may lower blood sugar too
  • Blood thinners such as warfarin: it may raise bleeding risk

Balancing dosages across multiple different bottles is risky, inefficient, and expensive. Cordyceps is already lab-dosed and delivered daily in our Stress Pack — one less bottle to manage.
