Methyl B-Complex

Short answer

We found no direct interaction between Biotin and B-complex in the sources below, but they share a caution.

Both have a note about anti-seizure medicines.

Biotin

What it is: A B vitamin that helps turn the food you eat into energy.

What the research says: It's widely sold for hair, skin and nails, but there's little evidence for that. A few small studies found harder nails in people with brittle nails.

Cautions

  • High-dose biotin can make some lab tests wrong, including thyroid hormone tests. Tell your clinician before a blood test.

Medicines to check

  • Long-term anti-seizure medicines can lower biotin levels

B-complex (active forms)

What it is: A mix of B vitamins in their active forms.

What the research says: B vitamins help turn food into energy and keep blood and nerve cells healthy; a supplement helps if your diet falls short.

Cautions

  • High-dose folate can hide a vitamin B12 deficiency.
  • Taking a lot of vitamin B6 for a year or more can cause nerve damage.
  • Niacin at 30 mg or more can cause flushing and itching.

Medicines to check

  • Methotrexate: folate can interfere with it
  • Anti-seizure medicines (folate and vitamin B6 notes)
