Alpha Lipoic Acid
+
Cordyceps

Short answer

We found no direct interaction between Alpha-lipoic acid and Cordyceps in the sources below, but they share a caution.

Both have a note about diabetes medicines (see each one below).

Both may lower blood sugar, so the effects could add up, especially with diabetes medicine.

Alpha-lipoic acid

What it is: An antioxidant the body makes and uses to produce energy.

What the research says: It's used for diabetic nerve pain, and studies suggest it can improve insulin sensitivity.

Cautions

  • It can cause nausea, vomiting and low blood sugar.
  • Rare cases of a condition causing sudden low blood sugar have been reported.

Medicines to check

  • Diabetes medicines: it can lower blood sugar further

Cordyceps

What it is: A fungus that grows on moth caterpillars, used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy and immunity.

What the research says: Some studies looked at kidney function in transplant and diabetes patients, but reviews question the quality of the evidence. Most research is in the lab.

Cautions

  • No major side effects have been reported.

Medicines to check

  • Insulin and other blood-sugar-lowering medicines: cordyceps may lower blood sugar too
  • Blood thinners such as warfarin: it may raise bleeding risk

Balancing dosages across multiple different bottles is risky, inefficient, and expensive. Alpha Lipoic Acid is already lab-dosed in our Antioxidant Pack, and Cordyceps is in our Stress Pack β€” either way, that’s one less bottle to manage.
