Can I take Calcium Citrate with DIM?

Understanding the interactions, benefits, and safety of combining these two powerful supplements.

Calcium Citrate
+
DIM

Short answer

We found no documented interaction between Calcium and DIM in the sources below. That isn't proof the combination is right for you: check each one's cautions, and ask your pharmacist if you take medication.

Calcium

What it is: The body's most abundant mineral; it builds bones and teeth and helps muscles, nerves and blood vessels work.

What the research says: Calcium supports bone health, especially when diet falls short. Vitamin D helps the body absorb it.

Cautions

  • Upper limit from all sources: 2,500 mg a day for adults 19 to 50, and 2,000 mg from age 51.
  • Some research links very high intakes to heart disease and prostate cancer risk.

Medicines to check

  • Levothyroxine (thyroid medicine): keep doses apart
  • Quinolone antibiotics: keep at least 2 hours apart
  • Dolutegravir (HIV medicine) and lithium

DIM (diindolylmethane)

What it is: A compound formed from vegetables like broccoli and cabbage, sold for estrogen balance.

What the research says: It changes how estrogen is broken down, and lab studies suggest anticancer effects, but human data are limited. There's no evidence for 'detox' claims.

Cautions

  • Not for pregnancy, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, because of possible hormone effects.
  • Rare reports include vision problems after very high use, and rash.

Medicines to check

  • Birth control pills: check with a clinician first
  • Many prescription drugs processed by the liver: DIM may make them less effective

Stop Guessing Your Dosages.

Balancing dosages across multiple different bottles is risky, inefficient, and expensive. Taking too much of one can blunt the absorption of the other.

Holitro completely solves this. We combine synergistic ingredients into one perfectly dosed daily pack, scientifically formulated for maximum absorption.
