Can I take Zinc with Omega-3?
Understanding the interactions, benefits, and safety of combining these two powerful supplements.
Short answer
We found no documented interaction between Zinc and Omega-3 in the sources below. That isn't proof the combination is right for you: check each one's cautions, and ask your pharmacist if you take medication.
Zinc
What it is: An essential mineral for the immune system, wound healing, taste, and making DNA and proteins.
What the research says: Zinc is needed for normal immune function; it's commonly taken to make sure intake is adequate.
Cautions
- Adults shouldn't exceed 40 mg a day from all sources unless under medical care.
- Too much for a long time can lower copper levels and immunity.
- Very high doses can reduce magnesium absorption.
Medicines to check
- Quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics: take the antibiotic at least 2 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after zinc
- Penicillamine: take at least 1 hour apart
- Thiazide diuretics can lower zinc levels

Omega-3 (fish oil)
What it is: Fats (EPA and DHA) found in fish that are part of every cell membrane and matter for the heart, brain and eyes.
What the research says: EPA and DHA lower triglycerides. Heart experts recommend eating fish; they don't recommend omega-3 supplements for people at low heart risk.
Cautions
- The FDA advises no more than 5 g a day of EPA plus DHA from supplements.
- Side effects are usually mild: fishy taste, heartburn, nausea, loose stools.
Medicines to check
- Warfarin and other blood thinners: high doses may raise bleeding risk
In Holitro: Omega 3 1000mg (1000 mg per capsule)

Balancing dosages across multiple different bottles is risky, inefficient, and expensive. Zinc is already lab-dosed in our Immune Pack, and Omega-3 is in our Kidney Support Pack β either way, thatβs one less bottle to manage.
