Turmeric

Short answer

We found no documented interaction between Herbal sleep blend and Turmeric in the sources below. That isn't proof the combination is right for you: check each one's cautions, and ask your pharmacist if you take medication.

Herbal sleep blend

What it is: A blend of calming herbs: valerian, hops, passionflower, skullcap and poppy.

What the research says: Evidence for valerian is inconsistent, and sleep doctors advise against it for chronic insomnia. Small studies suggest passionflower may add sleep time, and hops with valerian may help mild insomnia.

Cautions

  • Valerian is generally safe short term; it can cause headache, stomach upset or vivid dreams, and withdrawal if stopped suddenly after long use.
  • Passionflower can cause drowsiness or dizziness and shouldn't be used in pregnancy.
  • Don't combine with alcohol.

Medicines to check

  • Sedatives and sleep medicines: don't combine
  • Anesthesia: stop at least 2 weeks before surgery (passionflower)
  • Hormone-sensitive cancer: check with your doctor (hops)

Turmeric

What it is: A spice root in the ginger family; curcumin is its best-known active compound.

What the research says: There isn't enough evidence to say turmeric helps any health condition. Early evidence for knee osteoarthritis pain and stiffness is positive but needs better studies.

Cautions

  • Standard turmeric or curcumin is likely safe in recommended amounts for 2 to 3 months.
  • It can cause nausea, reflux, stomach upset, diarrhea or constipation.
  • Liver damage has been reported with curcumin made to absorb better. Stop and see a clinician if you notice tiredness, dark urine or yellowing skin.
  • May be unsafe in pregnancy.

Medicines to check

  • Talk to your clinician if you take any medicine

Balancing dosages across multiple different bottles is risky, inefficient, and expensive. Herbal Sleep Blend is already lab-dosed in our Sleep Pack, and Turmeric is in our Kidney Support Pack β€” either way, that’s one less bottle to manage.
